Underworld don Abu Salem, who is facing a criminal case for obtaining a passport under a fake name from the Hyderabad regional passport office, was brought to the city on Wednesday.
The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the appeal of underworld don Abu Salem challenging his conviction and seven-year jail term for possessing fake passport.
The e-passport will replace the existing passport document with a plastic card embedded with an electronic chip containing all the details.
The 3rd special court Judge for CBI cases, M V Ramana Naidu had on November 18 held the underworld don guilty under different sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for obtaining a passport under a fictitious name and address, from Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.
The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested a man from Hyderabad for allegedly trafficking Indian youths and forcing them to work in fake call centres engaging in cyber fraud.
